The Victoria Environmental Fashion Show takes place every February under the umbrella of the VUSAC Sustainability Committee and ultimately, is supposed to spread awareness about sustainable issues and raise money for sustainable initiatives around Vic. We showcase both the projects that the Sustainability Committee supports and the talents and creativity of our stylists and the Victoria College Community. Being that our primary purpose is to promote sustainable living, the Fashion Show itself is produced as much as possible from recycled materials. The most important “R” is “reduce” and therefore, we strive not to use new materials, which would use up additional resources when there is already so much out there.
We take rejected articles of clothing, breathe new life into them and then auction them off to the highest bidder! Our stylists scour the city for inexpensive used clothing (we prefer to call it “thrifted” or “preloved”– either way, something that a less creative person might deem ready for a land-fill) and transform them into a fashion statement fit for any wardrobe!
